MARLA'S CORNER
PROGRESS REPORT
by Marla Jaffe Nassau on 08/16/11
Our installation has officially begun at the King's Point Clubhouse in Tamarac, Fl. Carpeting has been installed in Card Rooms and Hallways. The painting is almost complete and furniture is ready as the Lobby should be turned over to us in a few weeks. This 60 thousand square foot project has been 2 years in planning. When completed it will be unlike any clubhouse of it's kind. The overall design concept was one of energy. From the moment you walk through the doors you will feel the excitement as the bold color palette meets architectural elements of that on a cruise ship. The Clubhouse is a place where residents of the community go to participate in fun activities such as arts and crafts, ceramics, painting, woodworking, billiards, cards, mahjong, excercize, swimming, sharing a cup of coffee and more..... This is NOT a country club with quiet reserve and dining. Kings Point Tamarac Clubhouse is a place to have fun, it is a place to move around and enjoy being busy, active and engaged with neighbors and friends. We estimate the completion to be in Sept 2011.
It's Official!
by Marla Jaffe Nassau on 05/13/11It is official...after 2 years in planning we have begun to renovate the 60 thousand square foot Kings Point Clubhouse project located in Tamarac, Florida. Imagine stepping out of the car, as you approach the Kings Point lobby the doors open just as they have done everyday, only today you are standing there, your breath is taken away as your eyes begin to absorb all they can hold as they move around the newly renovated space. Resort casual is immediately what comes to mind the instant your feet step onto the scuff, slip resistant wood floor made of completely recycled material. The wall to wall carpet design was a custom wool creation that we came up with manufactured overseas set to arrive in the Port of Miami in a month. As your eyes look up directly in front of you the warm glow of the lit chandelier sparkles with welcome. Before you is our custom designed 16 foot reception desk curved to invite you into your home away from home. The place one may spend countless hours visiting with friends, exercizing, swimmimg, pursuing creative hobbies, having a meeting or quietly reading a book. This lobby is the center, the core if you will. It is where the energy begins! Enjoy following our periodic photo updates on Facebook at Jaffe Design Associates.
Living Green
by Marla Jaffe Nassau on 03/08/11
Green, green, green.....is Not about money? Really? Sure we must all do our part in any way we can to preserve our planet not only for ourselves but our children and our grandchildren! The planet's ecosystem depends on it. We will be healthier and greener. We will save money on medicine, waste production, the use of polluting fossil fuels, water consumption and more.
Indoor air quality cannot suffer anymore due to harmful chemicals and pesticides. In my recent Advanced Building and Barrier Free licensing class. I sat in a room full of Architect's, Interior Designer's, and General Contractor's hearing about all the lastest LEED information one's head could absorb for 2 hours on a Friday night! NONE of us wanted to leave. No this class was NOT boring. It was and is scary what WE as human beings have done. All the codes we learn about are subject to interpretation and yes no one can really be held accountable. Buildings have no feelings we were told...Duh! They don't care if we are in them or not! Yet our kids sit is classroom's all day that were cleaned and mopped with what " DEATH in a can!" And we wonder why there are so many learning problems. Why are they kept so cold! Moisture, mold, bacteria....... We are all in this situation everyday at home or at work. We need to ASK questions? We must begin to change. Now...TODAY!
